Clarian Health Partners Host an ISA Project Tour with IPS Career and Technology Students

Last Wednesday, Clarian Health Partners collaborated with ISA to host a project tour for IPS Career and Technology Center students. Leading the tour were Donnie Reed, project engineer for Clarian Health Partners and Natalie Harter, communications coordinator for the Riley Phase V project. The tour was part of an ongoing Youth in Construction Committee effort to connect youth involved in a high school construction related program with the complexities and enormities of commercial construction projects and the industry in general. This is the second tour that the committee has set up, the first being a tour of the Lucas Oil Stadium.

"The ultimate measure of success is to see these students succeed in a construction related program and someday become construction business owners which will help to feed the construction labor shortage," remarked Scott Grimes, Executive Director of ISA. "Current high school construction programs are lacking the hands-on influence of commercial projects. Our goal is to provide that hands-on experience for students which will hopefully peak their interests to stay with construction as a rewarding career."

The committee looks to host project tours for the Walker Career Center and Mooresville High School in 2008 to provide the same service and again partner with IPS Career and Technology Center. If you are interested in providing a project tour, the Youth In Construction Committee would like to hear. Contact sgrimes@indianasubcontractors.org to discuss opportunities.
