ERMCO was founded in 1962 by Edward M. Gossett as a
small service company called Electrical Repair and Maintenance Company. The company experienced rapid growth throughout the 60’s. In 1970,
ERMCO merged with Maddox Electric, with Ed Gossett and Jim Maddox becoming business partners, a partnership that lasted until Ed’s death in 1996.
Jim Maddox retired as President in 1998, when Darrell Gossett became President of the company. The company continues to be owned by
the Gossett family, many members of which are involved in the daily operation of the company.
From their beginnings as a small electrical
maintenance company with a staff of three, ERMCO soon became known for quality workmanship and expertise. This led to their role as a major
player in the construction of several prestigious projects in Indianapolis, including Market Square Arena ('72) and the Federal Office Building ('74). In 1986, another chapter began when ERMCO opened a branch office in Orlando, Florida, where they quickly became a significant force in the central Florida construction
market, completing major projects for Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, SeaWorld, Tropicana Field and the Tampa Ice Palace, among others.
ERMCO sold the Florida operation to Vice President, Scott Maddox in 1999, and continues to enjoy a good relationship between the two companies.
ERMCO has grown to be one of the 75 largest electrical contractors in the U.S. Major projects within
Central Indiana have included the RCA Dome, Conseco Fieldhouse, Victory Field, the Marriott Hotel, the Westin Hotel, The One America Building (formerly AUL), The Bank One Tower and the

the country including the Paul Brown Stadium, Cincinnati, the Toyota Center in Houston, TX, and Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, PA.
